One of Minneapolis’ Most Popular Neighborhoods

Nestled between two popular Minneapolis lakes — Bde Maka Ska and Lake Harriet — the Linden Hills neighborhood has everything that makes Minneapolis the charming city it is all in one neighborhood. Bustling tree-lined streets turn into quiet nights making it perfect for families and young professionals to call this place home, but that’s not all Linden Hills has to offer.

Tasty eats and brews, great views, nitro coffee on tap, and a short commute to vibrant downtown Minneapolis, this South Minneapolis neighborhood will give you plenty to do to keep you active year-round.

Food to satisfy even the toughest of taste buds

Good food and libations are not hard to find in this neighborhood. You’ll have access to many popular restaurants, as well as neighborhood grocery stores and coops. Feeling adventurous? Bike or walk the short distance into Uptown for even more to choose from. You’ll have plenty of avenues to take your taste buds if you’re hankering for a savory dish or keeping it cozy with a night in.

In the summer, farmer’s markets grace the weekend streets with many small shops extending their storefront to the sidewalk for the passerby to peruse.

Parks and plenty of activities

Miles of trails outline the two lakes and take you through the lush green parks where you’ll find, at any given time, yogis, picnics, or a band playing at the Lake Harriet Bandshell during the summer or cross country skiers and snowshoers in the winter months.

On the lakes, kayaking and paddle boarding are refreshing summer activities when you need to take a break from the humid heat, while winter offers plenty of rinks to bring the family or skate with friends for a game of pick-up hockey.

Perfect for the family

Linden Hills is home to some of the most highly-rated schools in Minnesota. With both public and private schools to choose from in the neighborhood, you won’t have far to go for the kid drop-offs and pick-ups.

No school? No problem. The neighborhood has plenty to do to keep the children busy. Have we mentioned there are parks? We’re kidding. But if parks aren’t your thing or it’s not a nice day to be outside for a bike ride, there are plenty of community activities and entertainment for the kidsand parents to enjoy.

Easy access to downtown

Even though you’ll feel far from the city with the lush greenery and quiet streets, weekday commuters and weekend entertainment enthusiast will find it quite easy to get to downtown from Linden Hills. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul city centers are a short car ride or rideshare or you can sit back and enjoy bus or train ride from Metro Transit. You can also grab a bike and take the scenic route to downtown via the Chain of Lakes bike trail.

It’s a really safe neighborhood

Linden Hills and the rest of the Southwest Minneapolis neighborhoods are considered quite safe. Community leaders have active safety committees who engage in projects to promote safety in the area, including neighborhood watch participants on many of the streets.
